Personalized Home Water Filtration Solutions
There are two core choices for your home’s water filtration system installation: point-of-entry (POE) and point-of-use (POU). A whole-home or POE system functions between the main water line and the home’s plumbing system. The benefit of this approach is that the system filters all your water before it enters the home. This is necessary if you want filtered water for all your fixtures and appliances. The potential downside is that you need a powerful system that delivers a high flow rate. If the rate is too low for your household’s peak water demands, you may experience low water pressure and other issues.
A POU system provides filtered water to one or more taps and is therefore typically smaller in scale. One example of a POU water filter is an under-the-sink cannister filter that feeds a single faucet. That said, there are POU systems that can feed multiple taps, including faucets and refrigerators. Many of these systems also allow for a dedicated faucet so that they’re separate, for instance, from the kitchen sink.
Both forms of water filtration system installation are options for well and municipal water systems. Most water filters provide mechanical filtration for the efficient removal of particulates. Many have an inexpensive prefilter, which is often crucial for well systems. They also have a primary sediment filter that removes larger suspended particles, such as silt.
